Hundreds of protesters in France have rung in the New Year by holding a light-hearted march against it.
Parodying the French readiness to say “non”, the demonstrators in the western city of Nantes waved banners reading: “No to 2007″ and “Now is better!”
The marchers called on governments and the UN to stop time’s “mad race” and declare a moratorium on the future.

a small measure of privacy
Getting a new passport in 2007? I will be, and the first thing I’ll do after getting it is “sit on it wrong”. With a hammer. Why? Because the old-fashioned printed-on-paper part of it is just as useful as a 2006 passport, which people will need to be able to deal with until 2016 at least. That gives them 9 more years to work out any kinks in the system.
