I’m hoping to give Global Spin a bit of a refresh over the next [mumble mumble time period], so don’t be alarmed if you see sudden changes or other odd behavior. For those who are interested in such things, I’ll be:
- switching to a nicer site theme based on Peaceful Rush
- upgrading to WordPress 2.2 (with extra goodness)
- adding contributor pages (like this early example)
…but not necessarily in that order. I’ll post another update when some or all of it is finished and ready to be praised.
Good choice on the theme.
Phase 1 (moving to a new theme) is complete, at least as far as the newer parts of the site are concerned. I still have some work to do, mostly getting the photos, book, and such looking like the new theme.
Let me know if you find anything amiss.
I dig the theme, though I’m not a big fan of the font.
Looking forward to the other additions!
Brad: Yeah, I’m not a fan of the font either. I’m open to suggestions.
I would have fiddled with it myself last night (starting from the old theme’s Trebuchet/Lucida Grande combination), but it didn’t seem worth it after dorking around with the sidebar until midnight.
In truth, I’m not super keen on the green link color, either. My inner low-vision user keeps yelling at me about it. Still, I don’t want to go back to boring boredom, so it’ll take some tweaking to get the right balance.
I think the new theme looks beautiful! The green linkies are cool as they are– a good match. Do we need a separate high-contrast mode? And you emulate Google by using this font, of course, but Trebuchet and others certainly have more flair. So what’s my silly complaint? Too bad that forms adopt system color for the text in fields, which in my case is white, so I have to type, then highlight to see what I wrote. Why don’t I just use default colors? I’m obstinate that way (and want to see what things do when not the default).
