Gotta love hypocrisy

“I deeply resent the destruction of federalism represented by Hillary Clinton’s willingness to go into a state she doesn’t even live in and pretend to represent people there. So, I certainly wouldn’t “imitate it”:http://www.suntimes.com/output/elect/cst-nws-sside11.html.” –Alan Keyes, on Fox News, 2000.

  1. To quote Jon Stewart on the Daily Show, “He’s not imitating it, he’s…uh…_duplicating_ it!”

  2. Well I suppose there’s a better chance Hil represents her constituency better than Keyes might. Represent is a verb, anyway, and is quantifiable by looking at what the person has already done. But I guess I’m making Chris’ point for him…

  3. Oddly enough, I don’t have an opinion (or at least an informed one) about recruiting representatives from out of state. It’s probably something that should be decided by the locals themselves.

My point was that Keyes went from “deeply resent” to “on the ballot” in one campaign cycle, simply because it suited him at the moment. It reminds me of that great “quote from Casablanca”:http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0034583/quotes:

*Rick* : How can you close me up? On what grounds?

*Captain Renault* : I’m shocked, shocked to find that gambling is going on in here!

_[A croupier hands Renault a pile of money]_

    *Croupier* : Your winnings, sir.
