My ordination sister, Kila, just founded The Foundation for the Advancement of Women in Religion. This foundation will offer scholarships, sponsorships and project funding for women who are working on religious issues (hint, hint Deana!). They are currently looking for members to join the organization to help get it off the ground. Their Board of Directors includes some impressive wimmin, including M. Macha Nightmare and Patricia Monaghan. Figured this group might want to click on over, take a look and maybe even join like I just did!

This is an excellent article by Elaine Pagels concerning not so much “The DaVinci Code” but rather the nerve it hits that makes it so popular. Elaine Pagels is a senior scholar of religion at Princeton. She is well known for her book The Gnostic Gospels. Here is an interesting excerpt.

Dogs Drafted in Pest War
Welcome to the Vine Mealybug Sniffer Dog Project. Faced with the use of hard core pesticides* to get rid of this nasty new pest, the Vine Mealybug Workgroup started looking into other options, as you can read here. The idea is quicker detection, quicker eradication and less use of chemicals. I love being on the cutting edge.
*Pesticides such as organophosphates and carbamates — such icky stuff, most growers don’t use it anymore. They are both cholinesterase inhibitors. If you don’t know what that is, you’ll just have to trust me when I tell you that it’s bad. Unless you have Alzheimer’s apparently.
