Opportunity, one of the Mars Exploration Rovers, has gotten “stuck on a sand dune”:http://space.com/missionlaunches/050428_rover_update.html and it’s not certain that they’ll be able to free it. (All six wheels are pretty “deeply buried”:http://marsrovers.nasa.gov/gallery/all/1/f/447/1F167871674EFF55DIP1214R0M1.JPG.)
I’m sure they’ll think of something and the Little Rover That Could will be on its way. Still, send good vibes to Opportunity whenever you can.
We need to send a come-along winch to Mars! Quick!
That’s OK. I bet the JPL engineers are already figuring out how to construct one with native materials. (Plus that extra roll of duct tape they stashed in the rover…)
Ah, yes, our savior on a roll, sing the praises of duct tape!
~d who is going off to ponder a Martian come-along winch . . .
What we need is a squeezer…. And then we can head out over the weekend and give it a push. And yes, I did finish Red Thunder. Why do you ask?
Oh, Deana. Not everyone knows what the SQUOZE button does.
