As a culture, we still cling to that ideal of the Newtonian mechanical universe, based in the Enlightenment notion that we can know all things through Truth and Reason -- that the universe has some sort of underlying sense.  It&#039;s just not true.  The more we know, the more we should realize how little we actually know.

This is one of the reasons why GMO (genetically modified organisms) worry me so much.  We just don&#039;t know enough about the translation from DNA to physical traits and behavior to really know what we&#039;re messing with.]]></description>
