wanted: mayor
Whew! That caught me by surprise. How was I to know that the mayor of San Diego resigning would be national news?
My favorite part:
"Councilman Michael Zucchet, the city's deputy mayor, will become acting mayor. Zucchet, who faces a federal trial next month for allegedly accepting bribes from the owner of a strip club, defended the mayor as an honorable man whose resignation took courage."
I'm relieved to know the city will be in good hands.

Oh, not at all! I think a sense of continuity is important for San Diego government. If we were to go from a crooked, deceptive mayor to an honest, open mayor, we might not be able to handle the shock. Having an alleged crooked mayor in the interim will help us adjust.
Posted by: Chris at April 25, 2005 03:42 PMOh dear. I'm glad I moved before my OWN strip-club owner bribe-acceptance was made known. My head hurts.
Posted by: Deana at April 26, 2005 08:08 PMThis just in: Mayoral candidate Donna Frye alleged to have accepted bribes from honest, open strippers in order to keep Dick Murphy out of their clubs.

Are you trying to say there's something wrong with accepting bribes from strip club owners? I challenge you to examine your own background and tell me you're not guilty of the same. I'm indignant.
