Federally Subsidized Witchcraft?

Not here, silly. In Norway, where a witch has just received a state-sponsored small business grant. First A-ha, now this. You always knew Norway was cool.

I was fine with it right up until the last line:

"Skarning said Harry Potter was unrealistic. 'He rides his broom backwards. Real witches ride with the brush part in front,' she said."

What?

Two questions jockey for position: Can anyone corroborate this, and is she really talking about riding a flying broom?

This site talks about the same thing without the broom comment:

I figure it was just a light-hearted jokey response to some comment made by a reporter.

I think it's just a fad; now everybody wants to ride their brooms like Harry Potter. Where has tradition gone?

First vacuums (after Hocus Pocus) and now this. Goverment subsidies even! I tell ya, witchcraft just ain't want it used to be!
