This has nothing to do with anything, but I saw a few optical illusions today and had to share them.
Rolling circles
Whirling seeds
Spinning snakes
Are they moving? Look closer...

Posted by: Deana Weibel at September 25, 2003 03:21 PMI don't understand either, but I have a feeling it has something to do with the light/dark dichotomy--all of them have a few things in common:
--they have a light edge or side and a dark edge or side
--they move in conjunction with others that have the light/dark in the same relative position
--the movement is all peripheral (if you look straight on, they don't move)
I wonder, does it have something to do with the premise that dark colors want to "recede" in our visual space when next to light colors?

So strange! If you hadn't said they were optical illusions, and if they didn't stop the second you look at one of them directly, I would have just assumed they were examples of someone having fun with flash or something.
